ENERGY STAR certified boilers have annual fuel utilization efficiency (AFUE) ratings of 90% or greater for gas boilers. AFUE is the measure of heating equipment efficiency. ENERGY STAR certified boilers can be up to 12% more efficient than models that simply meet the federal minimum standard for energy efficiency. The highly efficient EFT Combi surpasses many boilers with a 95% efficiency rating.
